Alabama newspaper editor calls for Klan return to 'clean out D.C.'

The editor of a small-town Alabama newspaper published an editorial calling for "the Ku Klux Klan to night ride again" against "Democrats in the Republican Party and Democrats [who] are plotting to raise taxes in Alabama."

Goodloe Sutton — who is the publisher of the Democrat-Reporter newspaper in Linden, Alabama — confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser on Monday that he authored the Feb. 14 editorial calling for the return of a white supremacist hate group.

"If we could get the Klan to go up there and clean out D.C., we'd all been better off," Sutton said.

Asked to elaborate what he meant by "cleaning up D.C.," Sutton suggested lynching.

"We'll get the hemp ropes out, loop them over a tall limb and hang all of them," Sutton said.

When asked if he felt it was appropriate for the publisher of a newspaper to call for the lynching of Americans, Sutton doubled down on his position.

"... It's not calling for the lynchings of Americans. These are socialist-communists we're talking about. Do you know what socialism and communism is?" Sutton said.

I know quite a few Klansmen, and by that I mean dues paying, robe wearing cross burning Klansmen. They vote Republican and are for the most part, quite happy with the current President. The ones over the age of 65 have voted straight GOP, ever since George Wallace dropped off the ballot.

 

Goodloe Sutton has attended too many Trump rallies. Those rallies twisted his mind.

 

This whole argument is just so laughable. The Klan is not only primarily Republicans they are also very Christian.

But its not just the KKK. They are just part of the right. And if they do vote it sure as fuck isn't Democratic and hasn't been since you say.

But now with Trump they can be proud of their prejudices and the White House will try and turn them into law. With Proud Boys sitting proudly behind Trump.

What's really laughable it their pathetic attempts to smear racism on their opponents.

The GOP engineers voter suppression and they call it racist to point out these policies target minority voters, because when absentee ballots are hand collected from black neighborhoods, and then vanish, we're supposed to be colorblind.

When the Klan was at the height of it's power, racism was a respectable social and political philosophy. It was perfectly legal to write a restriction on a deed which made it illegal to sell a particular house to a black person. A person could be a racist and still be an upstanding citizen who stood for law and order. Those days are gone. Racism is now seen as a character weakness. It's a sign of low intelligence and cowardice.

The remaining racists can't parade in public like they once did, for fear of exposing themselves to their co-workers and fellow citizens. This is why is so important for them to sling charges of racism when exposed. It's the old "You're racist for recognizing my racism," ploy. To be seen for what they are, is to remove all the influence they pray to have and become politically and socially irrelevant.

 

This was just one of the best things I have read in a very long time. You paint a perfect picture. And nail down the most crucial points. This could actually be very educational to racists if they had the guts to read it. And the ability to understand it.

I grew up and lived among these people. I've watched them slowly lose their grip on society as the legal system shifted and the government was required to abide by the actual words of the Constitution. Donald Trump is the last Great White Hope. He's the bossman who's going to bring back all the jobs they think were lost because schools and buses were desegregated. As I said above, low intelligence.
