With the recent international break all done and dusted, the PSL returns once more with a host of fixtures to look forward to this weekend.
The action kicks off on Saturday and features some key clashes, as some of the giants of South African football square off early on in the current league campaign.
PSL fixtures for Saturday, 15 September
Chippa United vs Baroka FC, Sisa Dukashe Stadium – 15:00
The winless Chippa United will be looking to climb up from the foot of the table, as they host the unpredictable Baroka at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane in one of Saturday’s afternoon’s two fixtures.
Cape Town City vs Kaizer Chiefs, Cape Town Stadium – 15:00
One of the picks of the day’s action is in the Mother City, where Kaizer Chiefs visit Cape Town City in search of their first win of the league campaign.
The Soweto giants currently sit in the bottom half of the PSL log, having lost one and drawn four of their league fixtures so far, while their opponents will be looking to add on to their solitary victory.
Maritzburg United vs Bidvest Wits, Harry Gwala Stadium – 18:00
Two sides at opposite ends of the table meet on Saturday evening, as the winless Maritzburg United host the table-topping Bidvest Wits at Harry Gwala Stadium.
Polokwane City vs Free State Stars, Old Peter Mokaba Stadium – 20:15
One of the day’s late-night fixtures is a clash between Polokwane City and Free State Stars. The two sides occupy the bottom half of the table with almost identical records, having collected four points apiece in as many matches.
Orlando Pirates vs Supersport United, Orlando Stadium – 20:15
Another big clash on the weekend takes place in Soweto, where Orlando Pirates and Supersport United renew rivalries once more, as they face off at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, having met in the MTN8 just a month ago.
Revenge will be on the agenda, as far as the hosts are concerned, and they will be keen to break the hoodoo the Pretoria outfit has had over them in recent years.
