World Cup 2018: Senegal defender did not care about defending the Colombia goal [video]
“Head flicks and chill”.
Senegal were knocked out of the World Cup in pretty agonising fashion on Thursday night. They lost to Colombia in their final group game, but bowed out because Japan also lost to Poland – and they were level on points but had more yellow cards.
Much has been said about the “tie-breakers” to decide who gets knocked out. And there is some merit in that discussion, but the Teranga Lions might only have themselves to blame for their exit.
They had chances, but didn’t take them. And Idrissa Gueye took a next level casual approach to defending.
Let’s take a gander…

Yeah, not great.
As the BBC called it: head flicks and chill.
Twitter noticed and while we can laugh about it now, it’s not great when your team is on the brink of a World Cup exit and so many of the goals conceded have come from (not) defending setpieces.
May you all be relaxed at your jobs as Idrissa Gueye was watching that ball go by in a match of his life!ππ pic.twitter.com/L9I0eVkty7
