Kaizer Chiefs fire blanks against Cape Town City!

Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City played out to a disappointing 0-0 draw at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

The result sees Chiefs remain in eighth position on the Betway Premiership log while City remain 10th.

With no win in their last five matches, City fancied their chances against a Chiefs team that is blowing hot and cold.

Amakhosi, on the other hand, had hoped to pile more misery on City and their coach Muhsin Ertugral.

However, it was not to be as both sets of attackers fired blanks throughout the 90 minutes.

In fact, Chiefs fans would be highly disappointed with their team as they created enough goalscoring chances to bury City.

Mduduzi Shabalala squandered Amakhosi’s biggest goalscoring opportunity in the first half after going one-on-one with Darren Keet.

And while both teams took shots at goal, the majority of them were off target throughout the match.

In the end, both Chiefs and City settled for a share of the spoils, and ironically, this was the two sides’ fifth draw of the season.

Now, with this result, Chiefs can only finish the current season 56 points provided their win all their remaining league matches.

It is worth mentioning that Chiefs are now officially and mathematically OUT of the Betway Premiership title race.

And that is because log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns are already on 58 points after 22 league games.
