Kaizer Chiefs news: Matlou, Duba, Castillo, Zwane
Today’s news wrap.

Today’s Kaizer Chiefs news wrap looks at the uncertain future of George Matlou while there’s also an update on several injured stars.
Chiefs could lose Matlou for nothing
According to SABC Sport, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou is set to leave the club on a free transfer in June. The 26-year-old from Soweto has been with Chiefs since July 2022 after a move from Swallows. Amakhosi paid roughly R4 million for his services and risk losing the talented schemer for nothing if they can’t agree a new deal.

Injury update before City
Kaizer Chiefs face Cape Town City on Wednesday and there’s mixed news regarding the fitness of several injured stars. Rushwin Dortley is a major doubt for the City match while Wandile Duba is getting closer to a return after a long-term layoff.
“[Edson] Castillo is back with the team but probably not 100 percent fit because he has been away for a couple of months,” said the Amakhosi coach.
“We still have Happy [Mashiane] out as well for this game. We will be assessing Dortley in the next two days to see where he is at. Lilepo has been having some discomfort, and he will look at him today. OX [Mthethwa], probably we feel that he can play some minutes but not a full match,” Nabi added.
Morris out for a few weeks
Samkelo Zwane and Tashreeq Morris will play no part against City. That match is scheduled for Wednesday 12 March at 19:30 at FNB Stadium.
“[Wandile] Duba had his first training with the squad last week. Zwane is 100 percent out, completely out for the [CT City] game. Morris is probably going to take him three more weeks to come back, so he is out for this game, too.”

Should Chiefs negotiate a new deal with Matlou?
