Khanyisa Mayo reveals PSL club as his top choice for a return to SA.

Mayo, the prolific striker currently playing for CR Belouizdad in Algeria, has made it clear that Kaizer Chiefs would be his first choice if he ever decides to return to the Betway Premiership. Mayo, who is making waves with the Algerian giants in the CAF Champions League, expressed his admiration for Chiefs, citing the club’s stature and personal connections as key reasons for his potential return.

“I see myself representing one of the top teams in the country,” Mayo said, affirming his loyalty to Kaizer Chiefs. The 24-year-old striker emphasised, “If I ever think about coming back home, they will be my first preference.” Mayo’s admiration for the club runs deep, noting that his father played for Chiefs, which strengthens his bond to the team. “It’s the biggest team in South Africa, and my dad played there,” Mayo added, hinting at the emotional connection that could guide his decision if he returns to South Africa.

Why Mayo chose CR Belouizdad

Mayo’s move to CR Belouizdad came after the Algerian club offered a deal that met the financial expectations set by his agent, Mr. Comitis. The striker explained, “They were the first club willing to meet the financial demands,” which facilitated the transfer. Though he’s settling into a new culture, Mayo seems optimistic about his future at the club. “I’m just adapting to a new culture, and things are going well,” he said. He believes it’s only a matter of time before he starts scoring goals consistently, highlighting the challenges of adjusting to a new team and environment.

Mayo has started three games for CR Belouizdad this season, including two in the league and one in the prestigious CAF Champions League. Despite showing promise, he has yet to hit his stride in terms of scoring. “It’s a work in progress; to score more, I need more minutes on the pitch,” Mayo explained. His limited minutes on the field could be contributing to his current goal drought, but Mayo remains determined to prove his worth as the season progresses.

Could Mayo be the future star for Chiefs?

As Mayo continues to make his mark in Algeria, Kaizer Chiefs fans may have reason to hope for his return to South Africa. With his strong connection to the club and his potential to grow into a key player, Kaizer Chiefs could have a major addition to their squad in the future—should Mayo decide to return home. For now, he focuses on settling in with CR Belouizdad, but his heart seems firmly rooted in Chiefs.
