Former ‘Generations’ star Roderick Jaftha lands TV role
Former ‘Generations’ actor Roderick Jaftha, who recently revealed that he was struggling to land roles says he’s scored a TV role.
Legendary actor Roderick Jaftha, who is best known for his role as Glen Majozi in ‘Generations’ has scored a new role on Showmax.
RODERICK JAFTHA: ‘YES, I CAN CONFIRM THE ROLE’
ZiMoja reports that the popular Generations actor Roderick Jaftha has landed a role in a new upcoming Afrikaans series on Showmax.
Sources from Showmax said the role was created for him after the actor mentioned that he was struggling to provide for his children.
Jafta confirmed that he landed a role but refused to explain further details due to contractual obligations.
“How do you guys (media) know these things so fast? Yes, I can confirm that I landed a role, but I can’t comment further,” he said.
“The one thing I have learnt is that it honestly helps talking about your situation. It really helps. I couldn’t put food on the table. As people, we going through the most in life,” he adds.
FORMER ‘GENERATIONS’ ACTOR’: ‘I AM STRUGGLING TO PAY RENT’
The former Generations and Rhythm City actor Roderick Jaftha recently revealed to the publication that he couldn’t pay rent.
Jaftha who is married with four children can’t afford to pay R2500 rent for a single room where he stays.
The actor tells the publication that he doesn’t have food for his kids, and he’s been surviving on handouts from friends and family members.
“I am struggling to pay rent. I have small kids, and two of them are still at school,” says the actor.
He adds: “Since I only speak Afrikaans and English, it is hard for me to get those roles. I have been getting gigs, but nothing significant.”
Japhta says he wrote an email to Minister Gayton MacKenzie asking for help, but he’s received no response yet.
When he’s asked why he doesn’t reach out to Generations creator, Mfundi Vundla to offer him gigs. Japhta says his relationship with Vundla was not the best.
