Kaizer Chiefs are recruiting a new defensive unit while a quintet of stars are playing for their futures.
Kaizer Chiefs transfers: Msimango wanted in Russia?
Spiwe Given Msimango has only been with Chiefs for a season. However, interest is already rattling up from Europe with Spartak Moscow interested in signing the former TS Galaxy defender. Chiefs have brought in centre-backs Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel, and left-back Bongani Sam. Rumours also continue to swirl around a potential departure for utility defender Edmilson Dove. The back four is undergoing serious surgery. Fiacre Ntwari is also an exciting prospect in between the posts.

Inacio beefs up the defensive ranks
Versatile 28-year-old Angola international Inacio Miguel has joined Kaizer Chiefs on a three-year contract for a R4.5 million fee. The central defender, also comfortable at the base of midfield, has requested and received the number 83 jersey previously worn by four-time Betway Premiership winner Morgan Gould, who won two of those crowns with Amakhosi. A well-travelled footballer, Miguel was born in Portugal and played his club football all over the show including in Portugal, Romania, Latvia and most recently Angola.

Expiring contracts
31-year-old striker Ranga Chivaviro hasn’t exactly been pulling up trees since his move from Marumo Gallants just over a year ago. Ironically, Chiefs’ first match of the new Betway Premiership campaign is against the newly-promoted Limpopo outfit on 14 September. It could provide the impetus and motivation he needs to get 2024-2025 off to a flying start. He has four goals in 23 appearances for Chiefs to date, a statistic he’ll need to improve. If he doesn’t, that might spell the end of his Amakhosi tenure. He’s one of five stars playing for their futures at Naturena.

Betway Premiership fixtures to start 2024-2025
Hope springs eternal for Chiefs who get their campaign underway with a trip to Gallants. Here’s what fans can expect in the opening weeks, including testing assignments against the champions and last season’s seventh-place finishers Matsatsantsa. New central defenders Inacio Miguel, who takes on Morgan Gould’s old jersey number 83, and Rushwin Dortley are in line for high-profile debuts.
