The City of Cape Town Electricity Generation and Distribution Department will conduct critical electricity upgrades in Newlands and surrounding areas.

The maintenance will start from 6:00 – 20:00 on Tuesday, 4 June and will be carried out on Thursday, 13 June.

CITY OF CAPE TOWN TO CARRY OUT ELECTRICITY MAINTENANCE

The City of Cape Town said the electricity upgrades to the Newlands Main Substation will affect residents in parts of Newlands and surrounding areas.

The metro municipality said that supply will be interrupted due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work. In addition, the restoration time may be delayed by a few hours.

“Our teams will work quickly to complete all upgrades within the communicated times,” the municipality said.

Additionally, the City of Cape Town said in an event that power is not restored within communicated timeframes, residents are advised to check the official communication channels. These include the municipality’s social media channels, or contact the call centre before logging a service request in relation to the planned upgrade work.
