Haka and Karanga calls echoed around Auckland’s Eden Park as rugby legend Jonah Lomu was laid to rest.
Around 8 000 people gathered to celebrate the life of the world’s most famous rugby player who died suddenly just over a week ago.
Lomu’s number – 11 – featured prominently throughout the service. Students from Lomu’s school sang: “Number eleven, our hero, in heaven / the nation’s favourite engine, our friend, our legend”.
