SANRAL announces N2 road closure in Durban

SANRAL is set to implement a temporary road closure affecting the N2 between the KwaMashu and Mount Edgecombe Interchanges.

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) is set to implement a temporary road closure affecting the N2 between the KwaMashu and Mount Edgecombe Interchanges.

This is scheduled for Sunday, 26 November 2023, the closure will be in effect from 4:00 to 11:00.

The primary purpose of this closure is the removal of two overhead sign gantries situated on the northbound carriageway.

SANRAL reassured that the southbound carriageway will remain unaffected

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, taking into account the specified closure period. It’s essential to note that the southbound carriageway will remain unaffected during this operation, ensuring continued traffic flow in that direction.

“The southbound carriageway will not be affected,” said the eThekwini Municipality.

For those affected by the closure, SANRAL recommends utilising alternative routes to minimise inconvenience.

Alternative routes

The M4 and R102 have been identified as viable options to navigate around the impacted stretch of the N2. This proactive communication aims to provide commuters with the necessary information to make informed decisions about their travel routes on the specified date.

SANRAL emphasises the importance of adhering to the designated closure times and encourages cooperation from the public to facilitate the smooth execution of the sign gantry removal process.
