Bafana Bafana star undergoes successful surgery following scare

Bafana Bafana defender Siyanda Xulu has undergone a successful surgery following an injury scare he suffered against Angola on Sunday.

Xulu had to be replaced before the half-time break of Bafana Bafana’s 1-1 draw with Angola in that international friendly.

Soon after leaving the pitch, Xulu had to be rushed to hospital for further assessments after was suspected to be a fructured fibula as reported by The South African.

He will now start his rehabilitation programme as he aims to at least recover before the start of 2023 although his team, Turan-Tovuz IK, continue to play.

The Azerbaijan Premier League didn’t take a break for the FIFA World Cup like many countries that decided to give the players a month or two-long break.

BAFANA BAFANA DEFENDER SIYANDA XULU RECOVERS BUT ARE THERE ANY REGRETS?

Having underwent the surgery, perhaps Xulu would regret accepting the call-up to the friendlies that Hugo Broos wanted to use preparation for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March.

While he wanted to keep himself in the Bafana Bafana setup by accepting the call-up, Xulu may well find himself sidelined due to the same injury come March when the team face Liberia

This injury may well cost him a place in Turan-Tovuz IK’s starting line-up which could hamper his chances of cementing his spot in the Bafana Bafana squad.
