Eight injured in two separate vehicle roll over incidents

Eight people were injured in two separate incidents in vehicle roll overs in Ermelo, Mpumalanga and Carletonville, Gauteng over the weekend.

Five people were injured when their vehicle roll over on the R56, approximately 5km outside of Ermelo, Mpumalanga on Saturday, 30 July. 

FIVE INJURED IN VEHICLE ROLL OVER 

ER24, Ermelo EMS and Fire and the local authorities reportedly arrived on the scene to find a light motor vehicle on its side in a stormwater drain. 

A man and woman were trapped inside the car, while two other men and a woman were lying outside the car.

According to ER24, medics assessed the patients and found two men and two women in critical condition, while the fifth patient sustained only minor injuries.

ER24 said Rescue Services had to use specialised equipment to free the man and woman from the car. 

“Once released, medics treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support before they were transported to nearby hospitals for urgent care.

“The exact details surrounding this incident are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”

THREE INJURED IN CARLETONVILLE 

In a separate incident on Friday, three people were left injured in a vehicle roll over on the R500 in Carletonville.

ER24 and other services reportedly arrived on the scene at 19h17 to find a light motor vehicle upright on the side of the road. 

A 19-year-old woman, a 7-year-old girl and a man, were found lying a few metres away from the car.

ER24 said medics assessed the patients and found that the young woman was in critical condition while the girl and man had sustained moderate injuries.

“The patients were quickly treated and immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent care. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
